Topic: Top Five Things Your Employment Lawyer Wants You to Know

Join us for an empowering morning at our Women Business Owner’s Roundtable.

Like any human relationship, the employer/employee relationship is complex and fraught with emotions. It is more than an exchange of labor for a paycheck. Numerous employment laws govern the relationship and provide rights to employees that employers must understand and honor, or face serious consequences. This session by Julia Paris, Employment Law Attorney, will share five essential considerations from her years of advising employers so attendees will leave with these practical takeaways:

- Employment laws to know and monitor
- Defensive employment practices
- Common pitfalls to avoid

Speaker: Julia Paris, Esq.
Director, Specialized Consulting Services

Julia oversees several service lines at Employers Council, including the Affirmative Action Plan and Pay Equity Services, Workplace Investigations, Pre-Employment Screening, Drug-Testing and Employment Law Posters. Prior to her current role, she served as the Managing Attorney for Workplace Investigations and was an employment law staff attorney in the Colorado Springs office.
Before joining Employers Council, Julia served as a Title IX coordinator and civil rights investigator with a public university. She was an attorney for the national office of the IRS Office of Associate Chief Counsel, Passthroughs and Special Industries Division in Washington, D.C., and spent several years in the Tax-Exempt Organizations group of a national firm in Chicago, where she represented arts organizations, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, charitable and religious organizations, and large private foundations.

Open to women owners of LLCs and small business corporations.
